The more Truth… the more Free!

“The only way not to be overwhelmed by the continual and convincing lies of the Devil is to become an expert in Truth.” Dick Brogden

This is an amazing quote as it is true. As the world becomes more gray, and pluralism is the norm of the day, we will become increasingly challenged when we declare that the Bible is absolute Truth. So many believers become lied to, and embrace lies and deceptions because they do not know Truth. They are listening to so many voices. The voice of media, culture, pluralism, the voices of politics, agenda of other groups, in place of spending, knowing, and being transformed by the Word and words of God.

Jesus says in John, and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (John 8.32). Jesus is the Truth. Jesus is the Word (John 1). We cannot continue to neglect learning, knowing, and experiencing the Word of God, and expect our faith and commitment to absolute Truth to stay strong in a society and culture that believes all truth is subjective and they are all correct.

Remember, the more Truth you know the freer you will be. This is why we are taking intensional time and effort to get Compelled Church into the Word of God. We want followers of Christ to know how to study the Bible but also to love the Bible. Then truth will be loved, and we live what we love. And our love for Jesus Christ deepens.

Read and know the Bible and you will know the Lord, you will now Truth and your faith will grow and sustain you. You will not be deceived by the philosophies of this world/culture/media/society.

Our Lives for God’s Glory

My wife Wendy, reads daily. One of her devotionals is by an amazing missionary and teacher, Dick Brogden. His devotion is “365 days of Living and Dying with Jesus; Live Dead; Joy.”

She shared one of the devotions from last month that she said she continues to think, pray, and meditate on. It was powerful. Let me share the last paragraph:

“God revives us for His own sake. He heals that He might be glorified. He supplies that He might be worshiped. He forgives that He might be exalted. He delivers that He might be adored. He meets us that we might magnify Him. He acts to bring honor to His divine self, not to exalt man or woman. Let us stop approaching God for answers on behalf our ourselves. Let us learn to approach Him for the defense of His honor, for the glory of His name. Let us seek answered pray for His sake.” (Dick Brogden from his book Live Dead, Joy, page.255, reading for August 12).

We can become so distracted and so easily tripped up. Jesus has to remain at the center. The glory of everything must go to God. Our lives, our talk, our focus, our posting, our giving, our prayers, our families, and our lives.

Be encouraged today to center. Center your life on Christ again. Don’t let the political climate, the pandemic, and all the opinions of everyone and our own move us from wanting all glory to go to our God. I have to remind myself of this and what my wife shared with me is another great reminder. May our lives give God Glory.
